In Hong Kong, most of us could answer “what do you do” in four words. I’m in banking. I’m in property. I have my own company.
Then you move, and the sentence stops working.
That’s what I wrote about in the August/September issue of Hongkongers Magazine. The short version: your experience didn’t disappear when you crossed a border, it just doesn’t have to reappear in the same shape. Starting something here doesn’t mean starting a company, and it doesn’t mean starting from zero. What it usually means is that one person is now the founder, the marketing department and the admin at once — which is where AI earns its place, not by replacing judgement or trust, but by taking the repetitive middle so the hours left go to the parts only you can do.

Why we work with Hongkongers
Hongkongers has been a partner since the V8 Nexus launch, and the reason is straightforward: they reach the UK’s Hong Kong community properly, in the language it reads in. That’s rarer than it sounds. Plenty of channels claim this audience and then publish to it in English, in a register nobody actually speaks.
The partnership runs both ways. They carry writing from us on AI and business, and Nexus events open a room to their readers.
And if you want to be in it
Here’s the part worth knowing if you’re a member or you’re building something here.
What you just read is the service. Hongkongers reaches this community properly, and V8 handles the part most business owners stall on — the writing. Editorial content production and print placement, so your business appears in front of these readers as a piece worth reading rather than an advert they scroll past.
If that’s a room you want to be in, the partnership page has the detail.
