You’ve had the evening. Decent venue, good turnout, a glass of something in your hand. You spoke to five people, took three cards, and by Friday morning you couldn’t tell anyone what a single one of them actually does.
It usually isn’t the room’s fault. The right person was probably standing twelve feet away. Nobody put you in front of them.
That gap is the entire reason V8 Nexus exists, and on Tuesday 15 September we’re back in Piccadilly to close it again.
What the evening actually is
Not a conference. Not a pitch from the front. An evening built so that a small number of the right introductions happen on purpose.
Before every Nexus event, I go through who’s coming and look for the overlaps — the property developer who needs the tax specialist, the founder raising who should meet the person who’s already done it, the two people in adjacent sectors who’d refer to each other for years if they ever met. Then I introduce them, in person, with the reason.
That’s the whole method. It isn’t complicated. It’s just work that most events don’t do.
It’s also why the room is capped at forty. Past that, an evening stops being a set of introductions and becomes a crowd.
Who’s in the room

- Legal, finance and real estate professionals whose value to the room is their expertise and their network

What’s behind the room
Nexus isn’t a standalone events business. It sits alongside the systems V8 Global builds, and the people in the room get access to both.
Which is worth saying plainly, because plenty of communities talk about AI and rather fewer are building any. Alan Law, who co-founded V8 with me, has been running Axia — our AI operating system for sales and marketing — on V8’s own business since March. Last Thursday he presented it to another London business network. His account of it:
Last Thursday I gave my second ten-minute talk at BNI Endeavour this year. For context, at BNI Elements the most I’d present was once a year, for five minutes.
That cadence shift wasn’t planned. It happened because Axia is close to a milestone worth talking about — moving from prototype to an alpha stage that pilot clients can actually onboard onto.
I didn’t build a video for this one. Most of the hours that would have gone into presentation polish went into getting the system stable enough to hand to someone outside V8. That trade felt right.
What Axia does, in one line: it uses agentic AI to handle the sales and marketing work that’s tedious but can’t be skipped. Reading and classifying inbound email. Updating CRM records. Tracking every action item and follow-up.
The part that stays with a human is any decision that commits to something — advancing a contact, sending a reply. The system prepares it. A person approves it. That line doesn’t move.
The room’s response was better than I expected, and a couple of partnership conversations are now in motion off the back of it. Early days. I’ll know more in the coming weeks.
That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and it’s the same one that shapes the room on 15 September. Not theory about what AI might do for your business. People who are actually doing it, in a room with people worth knowing.
